The Third USTB-Oxford Materials Symposium was Successfully Held
On September 26th, the 3rd USTB-Oxford Materials Symposium was held in USTB. Prof. Zhang Yue, Vice-President of USTB, guests from Oxford University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PloyU) and over 300 students and scholars of USTB attended the symposium. Prof. Wang Ge, Director of USTB International Office chaired the opening ceremony.
Prof. Zhang Yue, Vice-President of USTB, extended his most sincere welcome to the guests from Oxford University and noted that the visiting scholars program and scientific cooperation in the field of Material Sciences between the two universities have flourished since the first Materials Symposium held in 2005. He hoped that through this symposium, exchange and cooperation will be more extensive.
Later in the symposium, Prof. Chris Grovenor, Head of Department of Materials, Prof. Angus Kirkland, Dr. Marina Galano of Oxford University and Prof. Hu Jinlian of HK PloyU delivered speeches on their academic reports and introduced the updates on their research fields. Prof. Zhu Hongmin, Prof. Jiang Yong, Prof. Ye Feng and Prof. Li Lidong of USTB also briefed on the latest research of USTB scholars on Titanium extraction, Nanocomposites, Spintronics and High silicon steel plate.
After the symposium, the guests will then visit USTB History Museum, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metals and Materials and the Engineering Research Institute of USTB. Prof. Patrick Grant, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, will give a lecture on the 48th session of China Distinguished Materials Scientists Forum.
